Course overview
Silver challenge awards are a BHS (British Horse Society) qualification aimed at recreational riders/equestrians. It is split into 2 sections: About the Horse and About the Rider. Each section has four booklets to work through.
This course is the About the Rider for applications and covers:
• Riding fit
• Riding flat
• Riding jump
• Riding out safe
This course will give you the pre-requisites for the BHS Stage 2 exam.
Entry requirements
In line with most BHS Approved Riding Schools and our animal welfare policy, we apply a 14 stone weight limit for the riding units in all our equine qualifications. Alternative units are offered and this will not impact your chances of achieving this qualification.
How is this course assessed?
Booklets are signed off by the assessor throughout the course once you have demonstrated the skills and knowledge.
When does the course start?
13th January 2025.
Length of course
6 weeks. Mondays, 5.30pm-6.30pm. This BHS About the Rider is a 6 week course so prior knowledge and experience is expected along with studying at home.
