A Level

Welcome to ED6! Our specialist sixth form provision at our Peterlee campus is one of the best places to study A Levels in the North East.

Of course, we're biased and would say we're the best, but our numbers prove it too! ED6 has a proven track record of incredible results, and here's the most important one you need to know about:

Great Pass Rates. Great Grades. Great University Destinations. A Great Sixth Form!

For the past nine years, ED6 students studying 3 A-levels or more have achieved a 99-100% pass rate on their exams.

  • We are the region's best-performing sixth form centre, with our students achieving a 99-100% pass rate on their exams for the past 9 years (2016 to 2024, students taking 3 or more A-levels).
  • In 2023, a massive 22.4% of our students' grades were A*-A grades, 37.2% were A*-B grades and 57.9 were A*-C grades.
  • The list of universities that ED6 students have recently progressed to is impressive, to say the least. It includes prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Imperial College London and Newcastle.
  • We were ranked as the best college in the whole country for the progression students make from GCSE to A-Level in 2018 - something we are extremely proud of. This demonstrates that students of ED6 make more progress than what is expected of them based on their GCSE results than anywhere else in the country - this means that ED6 has a proven track record of boosting academic results.
  • Smaller class sizes - we keep our classes smaller than other providers, ensuring that learners don't feel excluded and get direct tuition from our teaching staff.

On top of that, students go on to massive success after leaving us, moving on to study a wide range of degree programmes at universities all over the country (and even outside the country too!).

ED6 is based at East Durham College's Peterlee campus. We offer an excellent range of facilities for students and excellent tuition thanks to our highly qualified teaching staff.

With plenty of A Level options available, fantastic teaching from lecturers passionate about their subject, small-size classes to ensure you get the best experience and loads of other benefits like a FREE bus pass to and from your college, your own common room, Starbucks on-site and so much more, there's loads of reasons to consider ED6 for A Levels.

Smaller Sixth Form. BIGGER PROSPECTS.

Please note: A Levels are only offered as part of a full time study programme in our sixth form (16-19), they are not available to adults on a part time basis. Adult learners may be interested in joining our Access to HE Programme. The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university.
