If you're thinking of getting into childcare, completing a childcare apprenticeship is a great way to get started. Not only will you gain valuable, real working experience of working in an actual business which offers childcare services, but you'll also work towards a qualification in childcare and get paid at the same time too!
If college isn't for you and you'd like to start earning while you learn, a childcare apprenticeship is definitely something you should consider.
What Will I Be Doing on a Childcare Apprenticeship?
As an apprentice, you'll be working alongside qualified childcare professionals who'll be on hand to teach you everything you need to know as you work towards your childcare qualification.
Childcare professionals do many different activities including supervising and monitoring the safety of children, help children keep good hygiene, develop schedules, routines and fun games for children, reading and playing with children to promote their development and much more. Childcare professionals form an integral part of a child's early life, helping them to develop and grow alongside the child's parents.
Childcare workers will generally watch children younger than school age at nurseries or playgroups, but many also work with school-age children too both before and after school.
The exact work you'll be doing will vary depending on which role you're offered, and the business you work for.
