Former apprenticeship student, Daisy Race, has landed a promotion and full-time permanent role at Dale Care Services.

Daisy, 20, applied to work at Dale Care Services as a Customer Service Apprentice through the apprenticeship programme at East Durham College. After achieving a Triple Distinction result, Daisy applied for the Area Supervisor vacancy her employer was offering as she had enjoyed working at Dale Care Services and didn’t want to leave. Since she impressed her managers with her dedication and hard work over the course of her apprenticeship, they had no doubt that Daisy was perfect for the role. Katie Clark, Registered Manager at Dale Care Services, says she has been delighted with Daisy and would highly recommend other employers to take on an apprentice. “With apprentices you can mould their skill set to suit the job role and the workplace as it is usually the first job they’ve had and they’re still learning.” Katie said.

As area supervisor, Daisy observes carers in the area to ensure the correct procedures are carried out, assesses new service user's needs and investigates any safeguarding issues, and as Dale Care Services is the largest home care provider in the North East, it’s a big job to do!

Daisy praises her time at East Durham College and thanks her Trainer/Coach, Donna Mchale, for giving her the support needed to achieve such a brilliant result in her apprenticeship. ‘’I’d really recommend doing an apprenticeship with East Durham College to anyone.” said Daisy, adding, “Before doing my apprenticeship I wouldn’t even go to the shops by myself as my confidence was so low. But after working with a large team and communicating with people all day every day my confidence has grew massively.”

For her plans in the future, Daisy is looking forward to continue working with Dale Care Services as she feels she now has a job for life.
