ED6 A Level Year 11 Bridging Week - W/c 23rd June 2025

clock
23 Jun 2025
clock
9.30am - 3:00pm

All ED6 Year 11 applicants are invited to our Bridging Week events running throughout W/c Monday 23rd to Friday 27th June 2024.

This is a great opportunity for you to visit subject teachers and departments to learn how best to prepare yourself for the new term in September.

The day will be divided into sections, allowing you to experience lessons in several subjects of your choice. This should help you make final subject choices and understand more about what it will be like to study A Levels at East Durham Sixth Form.

The A Level subjects are timetabled and categorised as either SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), but you can select from both before making your final decisions. Bespoke A Level pathways will be introduced in September 2025. If you are unsure which pathway suits your A Level choices, then this week will allow you to discuss this with the team.

There is also an opportunity for anyone interested in a full business program to experience the Business course during the same week. Please see individual timetables. All lessons will be taught here at the Peterlee Campus.

Students will also pick up prep work and reading to be done over the summer break to ensure a prompt start to study in September.

We will also give you additional information about the Sixth Form and be available to answer any questions you may have.

Arrival Time

Please report to the main reception at 9.30am, for a prompt start in Bridging Lessons at 10am.

You do not need to attend all week, but we know you will enjoy your week with us, so you should try to attend as many subjects as you can.

Lunch will be provided free of charge.

Please dress informally but sensibly if you will be in the labs (science subjects). We will provide safety equipment in each lab session.
