It is a Department for Education requirement that all Further Education Colleges publish a statement on the development of governors and governance professionals.
This year the following training and development events occurred for governors:
- Safeguarding (January 2024)
- AoC Northern Ofsted Roadshow (September 2023)
- Charity Trustee webinar (March 2024)
- RSM College Financial handbook webinar (May 2024)
Governors were also made aware of other external training and development opportunities run by the AoC and ETF both in general terms and for specific governors where a training need or request was identified.
During the year the Clerk attended AoC Governance Professional’s network meetings and the following training sessions:
- Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement – governance professional training (ETF Good Governance Institute) (February 2024)
- The FE Governance Professional’s role in promoting EDI (March 2024)
The networking meetings provided national updates, policy and regional updates as well as an opportunity to hear from other local governance professionals.
