Starting Your Counselling Career
Taught at East Durham College's Peterlee campus, our counselling course programmes include Level 2, Level 3 and the Foundation Degree, making them ideal for adult learners looking to progress in this area and expand their skill set, or to move career paths into counselling.
As we're based in Peterlee, our counselling courses are ideal for anyone from the surrounding area, including Durham, Sunderland and Hartlepool. Our counselling courses are part-time study, allowing you to gain your qualification while still working, or able to work around your current circumstances.

We offer several routes of study in counselling, including a Higher Education (Degree) route, as well as Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

Funding Your Counselling Course
Level 2
Subject to your age, employment status, earnings and if you don’t already hold a full level 2 qualification the course may be completely free. Please see the course page for more details.
Level 3
For anyone above the age of 19, this course can be fully funded by the Advanced Learner Loan.
The Advanced Learner Loan is exactly what it sounds like - you take out a student loan, just the same as someone studying at university, to pay for the fees of your counselling course.
