Beauty Courses at EDC Have Never Looked So Good!
Interested in studying beauty? It's not hard to see why - the beauty industry is huge! With constantly-growing demand for beauty services across the UK and beyond, earning a qualification in beauty with East Durham College could help you to get your start in this exciting and rewarding industry.
There's a lot to learn in the beauty industry. Those studying a full-time beauty programme at our Peterlee campus can expect to learn everything from applying basic makeup and carrying out massages to advanced work such as beauty treatments using dedicated equipment. We offer full-time course programmes from Level 2-3, as well as a Level 1 course which gives you an introduction to both the hair and beauty sector.
For those who want to really specialise in makeup, we offer a fantastic full-time course programme in
Theatrical Makeup. This course is all about creating special effects makeup ranging from wounds to simple face paint jobs, or complex animal faces and prosthetics. If you're artistic and fancy a future career in special effects or the media, this could be the route for you!
For those looking for part-time courses, we also offer both Level 2 and Level Diplomas in Nail Technology, allowing you to train as a nail technician. We also offer a selection of other short courses throughout the year too.
Work In a Real Salon
Studying a beauty therapy course at EDC is as real as it gets - our beauty salon is open to the public, meaning that once you've learned the ropes, you get to practice what you've learned on real clients!
Don't panic though - you'll get to hone your skills on mannequins and fellow students under the watchful eyes of our highly trained beauty therapy lecturers before you get to work with clients and models.
Our beauty salon at the college has two dedicated, large-size beauty treatment rooms with beds, privacy curtains and all the equipment and resources you could possibly need from massage oils to advanced electrolysis machines.
Hone Your Craft with Competitions and Training
At EDC, we strongly believe in giving our students the opportunity to show off what they've learned.
That's why we regularly encourage our beauty students to enter into various competitions throughout the year, and many students as a result of this have won competitions both in the North East and nationally too.
Due to our strong existing links with the beauty industry, you can also benefit from training sessions with experienced, external beauty therapist and makeup artists too.
