AAT Accountancy Courses at East Durham College

Our AAT Accounting qualifications are open to any adult above the age 19. For the Level 2 course, accountancy is available as both a day and evening course to fit around your life commitments. For level 3, that course is taught one full day per week.

AAT Level 2 Accountancy is open to everyone - no previous experience or qualifications needed. Whether you're looking for your first job in accountancy or simply want to enhance your existing accountancy skills, this course is perfect for you. You then have the option to progress onto Level 3 with us.
There's a load of perks to being a student member of AAT too - with membership to the AAT, you can gain study support, career advice to help you find the perfect job, and exclusive discounts too. It also provides an excellent route directly into chartered accountancy.
If you choose to further your studies with one of the leading chartered professional bodies such as ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA, your AAT qualification will give you generous exemptions.
Online and On Campus – The best of both worlds
Online, you will study Mindful Education’s award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Each lesson lasts around 45 minutes and is accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further.
On Campus, you will benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.

Funding Your Accountancy Course
Level 2
Subject to your employment status and earnings, if you don’t already hold a full level 2 qualification the course it completely free. Please see the course page for more details.
Level 3
Our Level 3 course is fully funded for eligible learners (those earning below the national living wage or who do not have a previous Level 3 qualification such as A-levels may be able to study for free, subject to eligibility and which local authority area you live in)
At Level 3 the Advanced Learner Loan option is also available and you won't have to pay anything back until you're earning over £25,000 a year.
