Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Course

We're running a 12-16 week course delivered both remotely and with workshops designed to help people get their start in this exciting career field.

If you're an adult aged 19+ and earn under £25,000 a year*, you can even study the course for free!

Course Content

This course is aimed at those wanting to work in the adult social care sector and improve their knowledge and understanding of principles required for a variety of roles, including equality & diversity, safeguarding, duty of care, health & safety, person centred approaches and handling information These are 9 units in this course:

  • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
  • Principles of equality, diversity and inclusion in adult social care settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Understand the role of the social care worker
  • Understand people-centred approaches in adult social care settings
  • Understand health & safety in social care settings
  • Understand how to handle information in social care settings
  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings
