So, thinking about coming to EDC, are you? A fine choice - if we do say so ourselves! - and one that'll put you on the path to somewhere awesome.

Before you start, it's well worth coming along to one of our Come to College evenings, just like this one which will take place on Wednesday 8th January 2025, 5PM to 6:30PM at East Durham College's Peterlee campus (full address outlined further below!).

What to Expect at the Come to College Event

You don't need an appointment to come to this event, just arrive from 5-6:30 and we'll get you sorted!

We absolutely get it. Coming to college is a HUGE decision. There's loads of choice, and if you're coming from school, it can be hard to pick what you want to do.

That's where our come to college interview nights come in!

The event works like this: you'll be greeted on arrival by one of our friendly team members, who'll then either find your information, or ask you to quickly scribble some details down for us on an application form.

Once that's done, we'll organise a one-to-one chat with lecturer(s) from course(s) you might be interested in. Our lecturers are absolutely the best people to speak to about your course; they live and breathe this stuff every day, so they'll tell you what to expect, what grades you'll need from school and also be on-hand to answer any questions you might have about the course.

You'll also get the chance to look at some of our amazing facilities here at the college too while you visit. Whether you'd like to go check out the huge carpentry and joinery workshop, see our state-of-the-art restaurant, The Grove, check out our incredible Digital Lab for computing enthusiasts, look at our huge sports hall and gym or countless other options, we'll sort that out for you too!

If you still don't have any idea what you want to do when you arrive, that's no problem either! We'll get you in to have a chat with one of our Careers Advisors, who'll chat to you about your hobbies, interests and where you want to go in the future, before recommending a few different courses for you.

So to sum up, you'll can do all of this at our Come to College events:

  • Talk directly with the people who will be teaching you. We call it an interview, but it's nothing as scary as a real job interview! Just an informal chat with our lecturers, who'll be able to advise everything you need to do your course, and what to expect while you're here too!
  • Get expert careers advice and guidance.
  • Take a look around the college's amazing facilities.
  • Find out about financial support, our completely FREE bus travel service on ANY Arriva bus
  • Chat to our learning support team, who are available to discuss any additional needs learners may have while they're at college.

What Course Areas Can I Chat To?
