How to work out your GCSE points score

To calculate your average points score, you must add up your total number of GCSE points/grades for the eight best subjects, including English and Maths, and then calculate the average.

Your GCSE points score is calculated by using your GCSE grades and using them as points scores.

Triple Science you count as 3 subjects in total:

Biology = 6 points 
Chemistry = 5 points
Physics = 7 points 
Total = 18 points 

Double Science you count as 2 subjects in total:

Core Science = 6 points 
Additional Science = 4 points 
Total = 10 points

Please remember: You also need to meet any subject-specific criteria for certain A levels.

Example

Biology = 6 points 
Chemistry = 5 points
Physics = 7 points
Maths = 6 points
History = 7 points
Geography = 6 points
English Language = 5 points
English Literature = 6 points

Total = 48 points divided by 8 = G-Score of 6
