At EDC, we mean BUSINESS.
That’s why we’re the perfect college to partner with to source the next generation of your early years workforce.
Our apprenticeship service is fully bespoke to your unique business aims – we completely understand every business is different and has their own requirements, and that’s why everything we do is tailored to you.
With years of experience in matching businesses with the right candidates, comprehensive support throughout your apprenticeship programmes and a college that is big enough to deliver, but still small enough to care about your business, there’s no better place in the north east than East Durham College to partner with for your apprenticeships.
Our Tailored Approach
Once you've gotten into contact with our apprenticeship team here at East Durham College, we'll organise a meeting whenever and wherever is suitable for you - whether that's at our campus or your premises - we'll schedule the meeting at your earliest convenience.
During the meeting, we'll talk about any requirements you may have, how we can help and support you and answer any questions you may have about taking on an apprentice.
Once we have reached an understanding of how we can work together to find your perfect early years apprentice, we'll get started putting together your bespoke apprenticeship plan, keeping you updated every step of the way.

Step 1: Matching You with the Right Early Years Apprentices
By choosing the East Durham College apprenticeship team to find your ideal candidate, you'll benefit from our in-house recruitment service.
We'll advertise your vacancy for an early years apprentice on our website, pre-screen all applicants and even consult our bank of previous applicants to find the right fit for your role.
Any new candidates will be invited into the college for an initial interview and skills assessment, which we will use to determine if they are suitable for a role within your organisation.
Once we believe we've found the right people, we'll be in touch. You can give us your thoughts on the potential candidates and organise any further interviews at your own premises.
And then, it's over to you. By this point we hope you've found the ideal early years apprentice for you and your business!.
But that’s not all from us – this is just the first step. EDC are your partner throughout the apprenticeship, and our service doesn’t stop with recruitment. That’s why we say we’re big enough to deliver and small enough to care.

Step 2: Supporting Your Early Years Apprentice(s)
Now that we've found the prefect apprentice for you, it's time to get them trained.
As their employer, it's down to you and your staff to use your experience to ensure that your apprentice learns a variety of new skills.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll receive regular support from the East Durham College apprenticeship team.
All apprentices are assigned their own trainer/coach, who will visit the premises to observe both you and the apprentice, ensuring they are developing their skills.
Apprentices are also expected to complete a weekly day release, during which they will attend training here at the college, having access to the fantastic facilities at our Houghall Campus in Durham.

Step 3: Apprentice to Full-Time Staff Member
The ultimate end goal for all apprenticeships are to provide employers like you with a new dedicated member of staff, keen to learn and bring value to your business.
With the right support from both you and the apprenticeship team, the ideal outcome would be for your apprentice to be offered a full-time role once their apprenticeship is over.
By the end of their apprenticeship, they will have gained an array of skills and knowledge and will - hopefully! - have impressed you during their time at your organisation.
And then, who knows! You might be so impressed with this apprentice that you're ready to take on another!
We can 100% guarantee after experiencing how the team at EDC really cares about your apprentices, you’ll have the perfect person in mind to continue to partner with going forward.
