Step 1: Matching You with the Right Science Manufacturing Apprentices
Taking on an apprentice with us at East Durham College means you'll benefit from our in-house recruitment service.
Once we've got an idea of what kind of candidate you're looking for, we'll start by advertising your vacancy on our website. Any applicants will be pre-screened by us, and we'll even consult our bank of previous applicants to see if any of them could be a good fit for the role.
New applicants will be invited in for an interview and skills assessment, and once we think we've got the right people, it's over to you!
You can organise the next round of interviews at your premises, and then you can choose your perfect science manufacturing apprentice!
But that’s not all from us – this is just the stage one. EDC are your partner throughout the apprenticeship, and our service doesn’t stop with recruitment. That’s why we say we’re big enough to deliver and small enough to care.
Step 2: Supporting Your Science Manufacturing Apprentice(s)
So, now you've got the perfect science manufacturing apprentice - what's next? Well, it's time to get them trained!
As their employer, you and your workforce will be responsible for training up your apprentice, making sure they're developing their skills and knowledge in science manufacturing.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll receive regular support from our apprenticeship team.
Each apprentice is assigned their own coach/trainer, who will make visits to your premises to observe both the apprentice and you.
All apprentices are also required to complete a weekly day release, where they'll be expected to attend training here at East Durham College.
Step 3: Apprentice to Full-Time Staff Member
We hope that you're impressed enough with your apprentice that once their training is over, you're ready to take them on as a full-time employee!
After all, by the end of their apprenticeship, they will have gained plenty of new skills and know everything there is to know about your business and the industry.
Then, who knows! You might have enjoyed this apprenticeship experience so much, you're ready to start it all again!
