Course overview

The T Level in Digital Support and Security is a two-year, Level 3 programme designed as a high-quality alternative to A Levels and apprenticeships. It combines classroom learning with hands-on technical training and a substantial industry placement of at least 315 hours, giving students real experience of the workplace. The course is built around a Technical Qualification shaped by employers, ensuring that what students learn reflects current industry practice and expectations.

During the programme, learners develop the core knowledge that underpins modern digital roles, alongside specialist skills that prepare them for skilled employment in support, infrastructure, networking, or cyber security. The course is ideal for students who enjoy problem solving, technology, and practical work, and who want a clear route into the digital sector, an apprenticeship, or higher-level study.

Topics

All students study a shared digital core that builds a broad understanding of the industry. This includes problem solving, digital environments, data, business context, legislation and regulation, emerging technologies, and cyber security. These areas ensure learners understand not just how systems work, but how they are used safely, legally, and effectively in real organisations.

Students then specialise in one of four pathways: Digital Infrastructure, Network Cabling, Digital Support, or Cyber Security. Each pathway develops practical, job-ready skills such as installing and managing systems, supporting users and applications, securing networks and data, or designing and testing physical networks. Every specialism is assessed through an employer-set project that mirrors real workplace tasks.
