Course overview
EDC Equine are delighted to offer a BHS Stage 2 Training Course.
This course is designed for people who have passed their stage 1 Horse care and are wanting to move onto stage 2 Horse care and lunge.
This is a 10 week evening course with a mixture of practical, theory and homework to help prepare you for the BHS Stage 2 exam which will run here at EDC Houghall Equine.
Skills records will be signed as you go.

Progression to equine groom / working towards yard manager.

Progression onto Stage 2 Ride/ Stage 3 Care.
Entry requirements
You must meet the pre requisites to participate on this course. Must have achieved:
• BHS stage 1 Horse care or BHS Silver Challenge award About the Horse.
• BHS Ride Safe Award
• BHS Gold membership
• Must be 18+
In line with most BHS Approved Riding Schools and our animal welfare policy, we apply a 14 stone weight limit for the riding units in all our equine qualifications. Alternative units are offered and this will not impact your chances of achieving this qualification.
How is this course assessed?
Externally assessed British Horse Society Exam will take place at EDC Houghall Equine Unit.
When does the course start?
September 2024, 14th January 2025, April 2025.
Length of course
10 weeks evening course on Tuesdays, 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
