All students at East Durham College are automatically members of the Students’ Union and have the opportunity to apply to stand as the next EDC Students' Union President and Vice President.

Elections & Apply To Stand
The EDC Students' Union elections are held during term 1 of each new academic year. All students have the opportunity to apply to run in the election and also to vote.

An important role of the winning EDC Students' Union President & Vice President(s) is that they automatically become Student Governors and sit on the College's Board of Governors. As part of this role, the President can attend the first Governors CQS committee meeting of the year, usually held in early November (Thursday, 1pm-5pm). The EDC Students' Union President and Vice President(s) MUST be available to attend Full Board of Governors meetings. The first one to attend is in early December (Thurs, 5pm-7pm). They are then held monthly from January to June.
