Course overview

This course is suitable for anyone looking to strengthen their digital skills and develop a clearer, more confident understanding of AI. A basic level of computer use is helpful, but no previous experience with AI is required.

Introduction
Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life, from the tools we use at work to the services we rely on online. This course is designed to help you understand AI clearly and use it confidently as part of a wider set of modern digital skills.

You’ll develop practical IT skills while exploring how AI tools can support tasks such as research, communication, planning, and problem-solving. Just as importantly, you’ll learn how to evaluate AI output, recognise its limitations, and make informed decisions about when and how it should be used.

The course takes a balanced, practical approach, helping you build confidence with digital technology while encouraging thoughtful, responsible use of AI.

Learning is practical, structured, and focused on real-world application. You’ll take part in hands-on activities, guided tasks, and discussions that encourage exploration and independent thinking.

AI is introduced in a clear and supportive way, with opportunities to test ideas, refine your approach, and build confidence through practice. The course encourages curiosity and reflection, helping you move beyond simply using digital tools to understanding how and why they work.
