A charity football match in honour of Suzanne Duncan, former East Durham College principal, is to take place on Saturday 7th June 2025 from 2:30PM.

East Durham College is delighted that Stage 1 planning approval for a major redevelopment at its Houghall Campus, in Durham, was approved last week.

A partnership between housebuilder Robertson Homes and East Durham College has resulted in two new construction apprenticeships months ahead of schedule.

Well, that’s the case for lucky apprentice Izzy Sherrington, 17, from Spennymoor, who is currently completing an equine apprenticeship with Kynren, an Epic Tale of England, in Bishop Auckland.

Suzanne Duncan, our former principal and chief executive, will be awarded her honorary degree posthumously. With her family’s blessing, Suzanne will be made a Doctor of Letters. She had been notified earlier in the year that she was to be made an honorary graduate.

East College Durham recently partnered with Vantec Interactive Experience (VIE) to provide two state-of-the-art immersive training classrooms, at its campuses at Peterlee, and Houghall, County Durham.

A group of highly talented media students from East Durham College showcased their exceptional skills by winning bronze medals at the WorldSkills UK National Finals 2024 in Manchester.

When Mike Herrington joined East Durham College at its Durham-based Houghall Campus in 2022 to help it launch a land based engineering course for Level 2 and 3 apprentices, he really was starting from scratch, with no students and no dedicated workshop. Two short years later the provision is proving to be a great success and is growing rapidly both in terms of the number of students it attracts and in reputation.
