A group of level 3 media students from East Durham College are set to bring 2019 in with a bang as they take over the airwaves on Radio Hartlepool this New Year’s Eve.

East Durham College is thrilled to announce the launch of Project Sliding Door, a new initiative between the college’s Engage programme, Durham County Council and Peterlee police designed to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and the world of the work.

It’s a fresh new role for East Durham College catering student Rebecca Quinn as she becomes one of the first young people to benefit from EDC’s new industry placement scheme, completing an extended work placement at local restaurant and bar Clean Bean in Seaham.

The international manufacturer and distributor of premium body armour has pledged one of its industry-leading tactical body armour vests to the Uniformed Public Service department based at our Peterlee Campus.

East Durham College is thrilled to announce that Rebecca Hough, floristry tutor at our Houghall campus, has been awarded a silver medal in the British Floral Association (BFA) industry awards in the Floristry Tutor of the Year category 2018.

Sam Coote from County Durham has been crowned the winner of Farmers Apprentice 2018. Sam was crowned the winner following five days of challenging tasks.

It was an historic occasion for East Durham College’s Houghall campus in Durham – the campus celebrated its 80th anniversary on Saturday 20th October 2018!

Made for students at Durham University, the new, state-of-the-art accommodation block was built by construction firm Robertson over the last few months. The project also saw Robertson redevelop the Houghall campuses' Weardale Building, which was first built in 1938.
