The independent assessment recognised the College’s strong leadership, inclusive ethos and student-focused approach to supporting learners at every stage of their journey. 

The report highlights the impact of the College’s “right student, right course, right level” approach, with strong progression and destination outcomes. Students also consistently reported feeling safe, supported and confident about their future choices. 

Assessors also praised East Durham College’s strong employer partnerships and inclusive support for learners from all backgrounds, including those with SEND. Maintaining the Matrix Standard confirms the College’s role in helping students make informed decisions, achieve positive outcomes and progress into skilled employment, apprenticeships or further study.
