Previously named ‘Impact’ - East Durham College has celebrated the official opening of our newly refurbished gym, now known as EDC Gym, which opened on January 8, 2026. Welcoming not only staff and students enrolled at the college, the gym also invites the wider community to access the upgraded facilities.
EDC gym features top-tier training equipment, including cardiovascular machines, resistance machines and a full range of free weights, all supplied by Matrix, a leading gym industry supplier. Every area of the gym is maintained to the highest standard, keeping health and safety a top priority, ensuring it is clean, safe and fully operational. Alongside open gym access, members can also enjoy a wide range of fitness classes such as spin, bars and other Pilates-inspired classes, each designed to support individual fitness goals.
In addition to the main gym, the spacious sports hall is available to hire for events, activities and group sessions, making it a versatile space for both sport and community use.
We also celebrated the winner of our raffle at the EDC Gym launch! Courtesy of Matrix, we were able to congratulate our winner - Chelsea Moyles - with a brand new Apple Watch.
