Course overview
This qualification is designed for learners who wish to work in the exercise and fitness industry as a group cycling instructor or for existing gym instructors who wish to expand their current skills to offer group cycling sessions.
The objectives of the Instructing Group Cycling course are to:
• Develop your skills and knowledge to be able to plan and instruct safe and effective group cycling sessions
• Give you the essential skills and knowledge you'll need to secure employment as a group cycling instructor.

• Principles of planning and delivering group exercise.
• Specific planning and delivery of Indoor Cycling sessions.
Job opportunities after this course
Our Level 2 Award/Certificate in Group Exercise Instructing can lead to employment as a group exercise instructor.
Alternatively, learners may wish to progress onto courses such as:
Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Training
Level 2 Award in Instructing Suspension Training
Level 2 Award in Instructing Kettlebell Training
Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.
Further study options after this course
These qualifications can also lead to further training at the same or higher levels.
Entry requirements
Learners must be aged 16 plus at the point of certification. Ideally learners should have some experience of participating in exercise through personal practice as they will need to take part in group exercise as part of these qualifications. Learners should also have communication skills, pitched at level 2, which can be further developed during the course.

To be eligible to complete our Level 2 Award in Group Exercise Instructing, learners must have previously completed a qualification endorsed against one of the following CIMSPA professional standards:
Gym Instructor
Core Group Exercise Instructor
Strength and Conditioning (Trainer).
How is this course assessed?
This is a knowledge based qualification which has an internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.

October 2024.
Length of course
4 weeks; Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5.30pm - 8.30pm. Classroom and studio-based sessions.
