Course overview
This course is ideal for learners 19+ who are wanting to start their career in the Early years workforce, whether that is in a school nursery, reception class, early years unit, day nursery or other early years provision. With the increase in the government funding for free childcare and a recruitment shortage in this area, now is the time to start your career working in a rewarding job and make a real difference to children's lives.
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. This means you will gain a qualification as an Early Years Practitioner at level 2.

Job opportunities after this course
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:
• Nursery practitioner
• Classroom assistant
• Pre-school practitioner
Further study options after this course
After completion of this course you can apply to complete an Early Years qualification at Level 3 and higher.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to complete this qualification, however students studying this programme will complete a college interview to discuss suitability. A clear enhanced DBS is an essential criteria due to requiring an industry placement in an early years setting.
How is this course assessed?
The course is all assessed internally, in college through producing a portfolio of evidence. There are no exams as part of this qualification.

Thursday 14th November 2024, 3-9pm. Some flexible delivery for online sessions.
