Information Event

If you would like to join our Foundation Studies or Derwent Autism programme, specifically designed for students aged 16-24 with learning difficulties and disabilities or autism, then please come along to our Houghall campus event on Thursday 1st May 2025. Our come to college info event runs from 5pm until 6:30pm.

Foundation Studies is comprised of a bespoke curriculum that promotes independent living, community inclusion, health and wellbeing, and employment opportunities. It will be suited to anyone with disabilities, learning difficulties, or difficulty managing emotions and behaviour. Our courses support you with progression by providing you with the skills needed in adulthood, specifically aimed at greater independence, supported living, and work-related learning.

Our Derwent Autism Provision is a supportive, inclusive, and exciting post-16 provision. Within the department we have a range of young people all of whom require additional support as they transition into and out of college. Some individuals may have had an unsuccessful educational placement therefore we carry out individualised baseline assessments to identify an appropriate programme, meeting their individual needs and targets. Learners can expect to develop their social and emotional skills while improving their life skills.

What To Expect At Our 'Come to College' Info Evening

This event enables you and your parent(s)/carer(s) to come along and have a chat with the staff who help run and manage our foundation studies and Derwent programmes.

The staff can then understand your individual needs and what kind of additional support you may need to be successful at college. You can also ask all the questions you might have too.

There's no appointments needed for this event - you can just turn up.  We do, however, recommend applying for a course before you arrive - you can do that by going to our foundations studies section of the website.

Already Applied?

If you have already applied, our Student Services Team will contact you to invite you along to this Come To College evening and send you a text reminder nearer the time.

It is essential that you attend so that we can guarantee your place and make sure the course is the right one and right level for you. We can also discuss any extra support you may need. If you can't make it, please contact Student Services and they will invite you along to the next event.
