ED6 - After School Societies (Y11 & Y10)

clock
30 Nov 2022
clock
4.30pm - 5:30pm

This is an offer to Year 10 and Year 11 pupils who are looking to progress on to academic study at East Durham College at the end of secondary school. We aim to help boost those GCSE grades and give you an introduction into what life is like beyond school at these events!

Our after school society sessions are 1-hour long and tailored to help you work towards better grades in your GCSEs and get ready for the challenge of A Levels.

What you choose to do at sixth form is exciting but can be nerve-racking. There are lots of options available and understanding the pros and cons between different choices and subjects can be confusing. So, our sessions are designed to also give you a flavour of A-level teaching at ED6 and the chance to try some subjects you might not be studying at GCSE, helping to find out what you enjoy and the subject is really about  - ensuring you select the best A-levels for you.

To secure one of the limited places, please click on the subject below that you'd like to attend and register via our Eventbrite site.

Why Consider ED6?

There are many reasons to consider choosing ED6 as the place to study A-Levels. Most importantly:

  • We are the region's best-performing sixth form centre, with our students achieving 100% pass rate on their exams for the past 7 years (2016 to 2022, students taking 3 or more A-levels).
  • In 2022, 18% of our students gained A*-A Grades, 52% gained A*-B grades, 82% gained A*-C grades and 100% achieved A*-E grades (students taking 3 or more A-levels).
  • We were ranked as the best college in the whole country for the progression students make from GCSE to A-Level in 2018 - something we are extremely proud of.
  • Smaller class sizes - we keep our classes smaller than other providers, ensuring that learners don't feel excluded and get direct tuition from our teaching staff.

On top of this, ED6 students get all the benefits of East Durham College, including our modern Peterlee campus, on-site Starbucks and completely FREE travel to and from college thanks to our partnership with Arriva North East buses.
